Happy Thanksgiving

Emma celebrated her first Thanksgiving. It all began at Nana and Goddy's Tuesday night. Rob went hunting so Emma and I had a sleep over at Nana and Goddy's. On Wednesday, we ate a big feast prepared by Nana and I-we had so much food they will be eating leftovers for days. That evening we met Dean and Theresa (our dear friends from Georgia) for coffee. They were passing through to see their son Matthew in Washington D.C. Thursday morning, Emma and I drove to Covington to see Grandma and Grandpa Lane for another Thanksgiving feast. Daddy was so happy to us and we were happy to see him. Besides the great feast in Covington Emma crawled for the first time. It was only a few moves at a time but we were lucky to get it on video. After Emma crawled she got to hold the camera that we used to entice her with to crawl. She took a great picture of herself.
We were sad that this year we did not get to see Meme, Brian, Nate, Matthew, Beth, Bernie and Anna-Grace. We did talk several times over the weekend to stay in touch but it wasn't the same.
All in all we had a Happy Thanksgiving. We say it often that we are so blessed to have Emma and of course we will say it again. She is the most wonderful part of our lives. We can't imagine what our lives would be like without her.

Six Months Old

Emma is six months old. Rob and I can hardly believe it since we feel like we just brought her home. Rob and I are truly blessed to have her in our lives. She makes us smile everyday and when we are not around her we are anxiously waiting to get back to her. Her personality is the cutest. She sputters at us, squeaks at us, laughs at us, and slams her face into ours for hugs and kisses (that is the best feeling). Emma is a very happy baby. She wants to move and is really working hard at getting on her knees and hands on her own. Eating time is awesome--she loves every food we have given her. We started introducing the green foods. We only have peas left to try. George and Briggs excite her. She pulls on their fur, tails, and ears. They simply go with the flow.

First Snow

We got our first snow of the season. It snowed less than one inch but I had to get a picture of Emma sitting in the snow. Since it was early in the morning I bundled her up in her pjs, hat and sat her on a towel. We can't wait for a big snow to make our first snowman.

More Food Please...

Emma loves her fruit and vegetables. She has been introduced to all the fruit and only has green beans and peas left to try. She wants to hold the spoon herself and when she does it is messy. She also tells us when we are not feeding to fast enough. With her two lower teeth she bites down on the spoon and won't let it go. That is funny.

Voting Day!

Emma went with her Mommy to vote for the next president. I waited in line for 45 minutes to cast my vote and Emma slept through the whole thing. We took pictures after she woke up. I think she was excited about the sticker. She wanted to hold it and mostly eat it.

Emma's First Wedding

Last weekend we went to Covington for a wedding. Samantha and Kurt who are family friends were married. Samantha is the daughter to Rob's dear friend Charlie who passed away last December. The wedding was beautiful and they had beautiful weather. It reminded me of the day Rob and I were married not quite two years ago. Emma wore an adorable dress with tights and dress shoes. Unfortunately the shoes did not want to stay on. The cute bracelet she has on was given to her by Sheila. We took a picture of Kurt and Emma with Sue's camera but we don't have a copy of that. Emma paid $1 to dance with Kurt. He thought that was so sweet.

Happy Halloween

Emma's first Halloween began by heading to Nana and Goddy's. There was just one problem...
We got Emma the cutest costume. She was to be a bumble bee until we put it on and realized that she had already outgrown it. Luckily, Nana had a back up costume. Though she started off as a bumble bee she ended up being a Winnie the Pooh Hunny Pot. We went trick or treating in Patricia's neighborhood. Bailey, Riley, Leah, and Emma were so adorable and happy. Emma was excited through the whole dress up time and picture taking time. Unfortunately, 10 minutes into our 2 hour trick or treat adventure she fell asleep and didn't wake up until we returned to Patricia's house.

Go Obama!

On Tuesday, Oct. 28 My mom, dad and I attended the Change Rally in Va at JMU. We took off and headed for the college around 1 pm. We fought the lines and got a great space with only a couple hundred people in front of us. Once in the center and finding great seats we patiently waited to hear Obama. We heard from Tim Kain and Mark Warner first and then Obama came out. The crowd was wild and loud. Obama's speech was great. He spoke directly to us and motivated the crowd to their feet many times. This was a once in a lifetime experience. Harold and Helen also came. They are good family friends.
